What You'll Do
Core responsibilities include:
- Support and supervision in the classroom, in support of both the individual student and an overall safe and stimulating educational environment.
- Utilizing the student profile to proactively plan, preparing, and developing various teaching aids for use in the classroom to support student success, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts.
- Providing redirection as needed to support appropriate classroom behaviors.
- Supervising and supporting student breaks from the classroom as needed.
- Supporting the student in learning to identify and proactively prepare for challenges such as sensory stimuli, social discomfort, etc., and to develop strategies for self-regulating and returning to class.
- Presenting and reinforcing class subject matter to the student, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role-playing as needed.
- Assisting the student with assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- In the absence of the teacher, may confer with parents on student progress.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Credentials
- Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable, creative, and cooperative with a sense of humor
- Mental stamina to work positively with students for the length of scheduled workday
- Sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations
- Experience working with gifted/LD students a plus
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
