Work Control Planner 2 – Nuclear Facilities (DOE/LANL)
Location: Los Alamos, NM | 100% Onsite (TA-55)
Compensation: $55–$60/hr

WHY THIS ROLE
Work Control Planners at TA-55 support some of the most technically demanding and safety-critical maintenance and operational activities at LANL - including direct support of PF-4 glovebox installation and facility operations. As a WCP 2, you will develop and coordinate detailed work packages in a highly regulated nuclear environment, working alongside engineers, maintenance personnel, safety professionals, and project managers to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution of complex facility activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and review detailed work packages including labor, materials, time estimates, and safety requirements
- Write clear step-by-step work instructions and procedures for operations, maintenance, and facility modification activities
- Coordinate planning activities related to mechanical, electrical, chemical, or radiological systems within the facility
- Identify and resolve work constraints, ensuring work packages are complete and ready for execution
- Support operations in a high-hazard nuclear environment ensuring compliance with LANL and DOE safety standards
- Collaborate with engineers, maintenance personnel, safety professionals, and project managers to ensure work activities are properly planned and executed
- Ensure work control documentation supports safe, efficient, and compliant execution of facility activities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, technical, or related discipline - OR equivalent years of directly applicable experience in lieu of degree
- 5+ years of experience in work planning, maintenance planning, operations planning, or similar technical roles
- Experience developing technical work packages, procedures, and planning documentation
- Ability to work in high-hazard or highly regulated environments such as DOE, nuclear, defense, or industrial facilities
- Strong written communication skills with ability to create clear technical instructions and procedures
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience supporting DOE or NNSA facilities, particularly nuclear or radiological operations
- Familiarity with MWP, Primavera P6, or Asset Suite systems
- Experience supporting work control, maintenance planning, or facility operations in complex technical environments
- PPA certification (Policy Procedure Writer)
WORK SCHEDULE
This role supports 24/7 rotating shift coverage. Available shift options:
- Tue–Fri Days: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Tue–Fri Nights: 5:00 PM – 3:00 AM
- Fri–Mon Days: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Fri–Mon Nights: 5:00 PM – 3:00 AM
Occasional on-call and overtime may be required.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS - READ BEFORE APPLYING
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required - equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree
- Must have 5+ years of work control, maintenance planning, or operations planning experience
- Must be able to work 100% onsite at TA-55 in Los Alamos, NM
- Must be available for rotating shift coverage including nights and weekends - shift refusal is disqualifying
