Reports To: School Administration (Principal or Designee)

Work Hours/Days: Full-Time, M-F, 7:15 AM to 3:45 PM

Banning Lewis Prep Academy, serving grades 6–12, is one of two campuses (Banning Lewis Ranch Academy-K–5 is the other), is a tuition-free public charter school authorized by District 49, proudly serving the Banning Lewis Ranch community and surrounding neighborhoods in northeastern Colorado Springs. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Science, Physics, Earth Science, or a related field in education.Ability to obtain a valid Colorado teaching license.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching high school physical science and/or earth science.Knowledge of courses such as Physical Science, Earth Science, Physics, Environmental Science, or related content areas.Experience with laboratory instruction and scientific inquiry-based learning.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Position Overview

The High School Science Teacher (Physical & Earth Science) is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction that develops students' understanding of scientific concepts, inquiry skills, and real-world application of science. This position fosters a structured and interactive classroom environment where students explore physical and earth systems through investigation, experimentation, and critical thinking while aligning with PBIS, CKH, and restorative practices.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Lesson Design

Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned to science standards.Emphasize scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and real-world application of physical and earth science concepts.Design and implement hands-on labs, experiments, and investigations.Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

Assessment & Feedback

Design and administer formative and summative assessments.Provide timely, actionable feedback on student understanding and performance.Use assessment data to guide instruction and support student growth.

Classroom Culture & Management

Establish clear expectations, routines, and safety procedures.Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.Reinforce PBIS expectations consistently.

CKH & Relationship Building

Build strong relationships that foster trust, engagement, and curiosity.Encourage student confidence and persistence in scientific learning.

Restorative Practices

Address behavior through reflective and restorative approaches that support student growth.

Collaboration

Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to plan instruction and analyze student data.Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and improve student outcomes.

Operational Support

Maintain lab materials, equipment, and safety standards.Support school events, supervision duties, and testing as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, which includes group insurance (health, dental, and vision), paid sick leave and personal leave, and elective retirement savings plans. We are not a PERA contributing employer.

Salary Range: $51,000 – $65,000

This position will be for the 2026–2027 school year.
