Position Summary
The Alumni Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting sustained recovery by maintaining ongoing engagement with graduates of our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This position provides peer support and case management services to alumni, helping them remain connected to recovery resources, community supports, and ongoing care.
All services are delivered in compliance with AHCCCS AMPM Policy 963 and the Covered Behavioral Health Services Guide, with a strong focus on outreach, relationship-building, documentation, and billable service productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively engage IOP alumni through phone, email, text, and in-person contact to maintain consistent recovery-focused support
- Provide individual and group peer support services using lived experience, including coaching, mentoring, role modeling, and skill-building
- Deliver individualized case management services such as care coordination, service navigation, and linkage to community resources (housing, employment, benefits, primary care)
- Plan, facilitate, and document monthly alumni group meetings (in-person or hybrid), fostering peer connection and recovery education
- Collaborate with IOP clinical teams, supervisors, and community partners to address alumni needs and improve engagement outcomes
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the KIPU EHR system in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, AHCCCS standards, and agency policies
- Utilize appropriate AHCCCS billing codes (H0038, H0023, T1016) and ensure documentation supports medical necessity
- Meet productivity expectations of 1,500 billable minutes per week and track key performance indicators such as alumni engagement, retention, and attendance
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current AHCCCS-recognized Peer and Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) credential through an approved Peer Support Employment Training Program (required at time of hire)
- 2–4 years of experience in behavioral health, peer support, case management, or recovery services
- Working knowledge of AHCCCS billing requirements, AMPM Policy 963, and recovery-oriented systems of care
- Proficiency with electronic health records (KIPU preferred or similar EHR systems)
- Ability to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card within 90 days of hire
- Negative TB test or clear chest X-ray within the last year
- Valid Arizona driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to meet agency driving requirements
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and pre-employment skills assessment
Preferred Qualifications
- Alumni of an IOP or comparable substance use disorder treatment program
- Lived experience in recovery from substance use and/or mental health challenges
- Experience facilitating groups in a recovery-oriented setting
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and harm reduction principles
