Job Description

Groundworks Services is home to a collection of brands that seek to provide knowledgeable, and artful experiences that set new standards for the purchase and experience of cannabis. We are looking for folks who are passionate about cannabis and want to help us move the dial forward on building an inclusive and professional cannabis culture.

We are seeking a detail-oriented HR Operations & Employee Relations Coordinator to support our team by managing HR communications, coordinating employee relations processes, and maintaining accurate employee records. This role focuses on employee relations support, HR operations, and partnering with managers to ensure consistent and compliant people practices across the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR by monitoring email and phone communications and triaging employee and manager inquiries
  • Conduct intake for employee concerns, gathering detailed information and supporting employee relations investigations
  • Assist with employee relations processes, including documentation, follow-up interviews, and case coordination
  • Support disciplinary actions and terminations, including preparation of documentation and participation in conversations
  • Maintain organized, compliant employee personnel files and documentation
  • Coordinate onboarding processes and facilitate weekly new hire orientation
  • Support employee benefits administration, including eligibility communication and system updates
  • Partner with HR leadership and field managers to ensure consistent application of HR practices
  • Assist with job postings and recruiting coordination during high-volume hiring periods

What You Bring

  • 1–3 years of Human Resources experience, with exposure to employee relations, investigations, or compliance preferred
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee matters
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to navigate difficult or sensitive conversations
  • Ability to think critically, gather information, and support problem-solving in employee situations
  • Experience in retail, multi-location environments, or regulated industries preferred
  • Familiarity with HR processes, documentation, and employment practices

Work Schedule & Availability

This role is primarily scheduled during standard business hours; however, occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required to support employee relations matters, urgent HR issues, or operational needs across locations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between locations
  • Primary travel within the Portland metro area, with occasional travel to Eugene
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to travel between locations as needed
  • Ability to participate in in-person meetings and employee discussions
  • Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
