New Village Arts is seeking skilled, collaborative, and dependable Accompanists to support the musical needs of our productions, rehearsals, auditions, and related programming.
This role is ideal for a strong pianist who enjoys working closely with performers and creative teams in a live theatre environment. Accompanists, also commonly called rehearsal pianists or collaborative pianists, provide musical support for singers and other performers during rehearsals and performances and are often expected to prepare music, sight-read, and adapt quickly to rehearsal needs.
What you'll do:
- Provide piano or keyboard accompaniment for rehearsals, auditions, performances, and related activities
- Prepare music in advance and perform accompaniment accurately and musically
- Sight-read as needed during auditions, callbacks, and rehearsal sessions
- Follow direction from the Music Director and adjust tempo, style, and phrasing as needed
- Support performers during music rehearsals, warm-ups, and other musical work sessions
- Help maintain organized music materials and rehearsal readiness
- Work collaboratively with the Music Director, cast, stage management, and production staff
We're looking for someone who:
- Has strong piano skills and is comfortable accompanying singers and performers
- Can sight-read and adapt quickly in a rehearsal setting
- Has prior experience as an accompanist, rehearsal pianist, collaborative pianist, or similar role preferred
- Is dependable, prepared, and collaborative
- Is available to work evenings, weekends, and other hours based on production schedules
- Brings strong musical judgment, attention to detail, and professionalism to the work
At New Village Arts, the work that supports the rehearsal room is essential to the work that happens onstage. If you are excited to help shape and support live performance through music, we'd love to hear from you.
