Position Overview
We are actively building a pipeline of experienced Budget Analysts to support upcoming federal government programs requiring expertise in budget formulation, execution, and financial oversight.
The Budget Analyst supports federal clients in the development, execution, monitoring, and analysis of program budgets. This role ensures accurate financial tracking, compliance with federal fiscal regulations, and alignment of funding with mission requirements.
The ideal candidate has experience working within federal budget systems and processes (such as PPBE or equivalent), strong analytical capabilities, and hands-on experience with financial data systems and reporting tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, analyze, and execute federal program budgets and financial plans
- Monitor obligations, expenditures, and funding availability across fiscal years and appropriations
- Support budget formulation, justification, and submission processes
- Conduct variance analysis between planned vs. actual financial performance
- Track and reconcile financial data across multiple funding lines and programs
- Prepare budget reports, dashboards, and executive-level financial summaries
- Support Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) or equivalent federal processes
- Ensure compliance with federal fiscal law, agency regulations, and funding policies
- Collaborate with program managers, contracting officers, and financial leadership
- Support audits, financial reviews, and internal control processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or federal financial management
- Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government agencies or regulated environments
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial data interpretation and reporting
- Understanding of federal budgeting principles, appropriations, and execution processes
- Ability to work with large financial datasets and reconcile funding discrepancies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DoD, DHS, VA, HHS, or other federal agencies
- Familiarity with PPBE process or federal budget lifecycle management
- Experience supporting audit readiness or financial compliance reviews
- Professional certifications (CGFM, CPA, CDFM, or similar)
- Experience in federal consulting or contractor environments
Tools & Technologies (Preferred Experience)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, financial modeling)
- Budget execution and financial systems (PBIS, ABSS, CRIS, or agency-specific tools)
- ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar financial management systems)
- Data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau – preferred)
- SQL (basic to intermediate financial data querying – preferred)
- SharePoint or financial reporting collaboration platforms
