- C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center is a federally qualified community health center which exists to provide patient-centered primary health care services to the medically underserved residents of the greater Savannah-Chatham County, Georgia community. The Health Center makes comprehensive primary care, integrated behavioral health care, oral health care, and inpatient respite care services available to all persons, including the homeless and low-income uninsured and underinsured, regardless of ability to pay. Position Overview: As a Community Outreach Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will play a crucial role in bridging healthcare services with local communities. Your responsibilities will encompass a blend of clinical expertise and community engagement, aiming to improve health outcomes through education, support, and accessible healthcare services. This position requires the candidate to be out in the community providing quality health care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of medical professionals.
- Assist in clinical procedures such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing basic wound care.
- Community Engagement:
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, local clinics, and healthcare providers.
- Organize and participate in health fairs, community events, and outreach programs to promote health education and preventive care.
- Health Education:
- Conduct educational sessions on topics such as chronic disease management, nutrition, mental health, and preventive care.
- Create and distribute educational materials to community members regarding healthcare resources and services.
- Patient Advocacy:
- Advocate for patients within the healthcare system, helping them navigate services and access resources.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and community organizations to address healthcare needs.
- Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Assist in scheduling appointments, follow-up visits, and referrals.
- Cultural Competency:
- Respect and understand the cultural diversity and specific needs of the community served.
- Provide culturally sensitive care and adapt educational materials to meet community needs.
Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
