Health Information Management: Scanning Technician

Location: Denver Colorado

Pay rate: $20.29-$27.48

Shift: Monday through Friday

Hours: Days

Summary

As a part of the Medical Records team at Uptown Community Health Center you will support 4 different clinics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Obstetrics/Gynecology. This position completes medical record coordination using both paper and electronic means. HIM is the cornerstone of navigating all documents moving through the health center. Constancy and attention to detail are crucial qualities in this role.

Functions:

Identify the proper document type for all incoming paperwork and allocate it to the correct department within the Health Center.

Confirms and records patient's, name, date of birth, and medical record number on every page of the document and ensures each page in the record is for the same patient and encounter. In addition, verify that duplicate documents are not recorded in the electronic medical record system.

Label each document in accordance with Health Center's workflow for proper dissemination.

Responsible for generating document and order encounters and routing appropriately.

Deliver and recapture corresponding paperwork to and from the designated persons.

Completed documents will be scanned into Electronic Health Record (EHR) based on specific capture classes depending on the document type.

Essential Functions:

Responds to emergency activity within the office according to protocol.

Compliance with all policies, procedures, and standard work.

Maintain Patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

Be able to communicate clearly and concentrate on assigned tasks.

Be self directed and motivated and can function successfully in a team environment,

Attend all required meetings and trainings.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

One year experience in Healthcare

Preferred:

2 years experience in healthcare

Experience with EPIC

Experience with Onbase

Experience working with and sensitivity toward special populations

Bilingual English / Spanish
