About Sigma HomeCare

Sigma HomeCare is a growing home care agency dedicated to helping seniors and adults remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their homes. As we expand our Private Pay Division, we are seeking a driven Healthcare Business Development Representative to build referral relationships throughout Wayne County and help grow our private-pay client base.

This is a field-based role focused on relationship development, networking, community outreach, and referral generation. The ideal candidate is highly personable, self-motivated, and thrives in a relationship-driven environment.

Position Summary

The Healthcare Business Development Representative will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with referral sources throughout an assigned territory. This individual will serve as the face of Sigma HomeCare within the community and work to generate qualified private-pay referrals through consistent outreach and relationship-building activities.

Success in this role will be measured by activity, relationship development, referral growth, and private-pay census growth.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Referral Growth

  • Develop and execute a territory growth plan for assigned counties and referral sources.
  • Conduct approximately 40 in-person sales visits per week.
  • Build relationships with hospitals, physician offices, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, senior centers, adult day programs, and community organizations.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key referral decision-makers, including:
    • Case Managers
    • Social Workers
    • Discharge Planners
    • Directors of Nursing
    • Rehabilitation Directors
    • Care Coordinators
    • Physicians and Practice Managers
  • Educate referral sources on Sigma HomeCare's services and value proposition.
  • Conduct facility presentations, lunch-and-learns, and community outreach events.
  • Attend networking events and healthcare-related community functions.

Territory Management

  • Manage an assigned territory and maintain a structured outreach schedule.
  • Utilize mapping and referral tracking tools to maximize territory coverage.
  • Maintain detailed records of outreach activities, referral opportunities, and follow-up actions.
  • Regularly assess referral source potential and prioritize high-value opportunities.

Relationship Management

  • Establish long-term referral partnerships through consistent follow-up and engagement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for referral partners.
  • Ensure referral sources receive timely communication and support.
  • Gather market intelligence and provide feedback regarding competitor activity and referral trends.

Internal Collaboration

  • Partner with operations, staffing, and recruiting teams to ensure successful client onboarding.
  • Communicate referral opportunities and client needs to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in strategy meetings and business development planning sessions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in business development, healthcare sales, community outreach, account management, or relationship management.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned territory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
