Position Summary

Global Gourmet Catering is seeking a talented and creative Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. This full-time hourly position is ideal for a culinary professional with strong sushi preparation skills, a passion for high-quality ingredients, and an eye for presentation. The ideal candidate has experience preparing sushi and Japanese-inspired cuisine, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys contributing innovative ideas to menus, special events, and guest experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare sushi, sashimi, nigiri, specialty rolls, and other Japanese-inspired menu items with precision and consistency.

  • Handle, fabricate, and store seafood, rice, vegetables, and garnishes according to food safety standards.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout preparation and service.

  • Assist with menu development, seasonal offerings, and creative presentation concepts.

  • Ensure all dishes meet company standards for quality, taste, appearance, and portion control.

  • Monitor inventory levels, product freshness, and ingredient rotation.

  • Support catering events, special functions, and high-volume production as needed.

  • Collaborate with chefs, kitchen staff, and event teams to execute successful service.

  • Follow all health department regulations, food safety procedures, and company policies.

  • Assist with kitchen setup, breakdown, cleaning, and general production responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of sushi chef or sushi preparation experience required.

  • Strong knife skills and knowledge of traditional sushi preparation techniques.

  • Experience handling and preparing fresh fish and seafood.

  • Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper seafood storage procedures.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, catering, or event environment.

  • Creative approach to menu development, presentation, and ingredient pairings.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and consistency.

  • Reliable, professional, and team-oriented.

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.

  • Experience in catering, luxury hospitality, or high-volume production environments is a plus.
