Job Description

Position Title: Park Host - Position is seasonal May through October

Department or Program Overview: Columbia County's Forests, Parks, and Recreation Department serves Columbia County residents and visitors by providing recreational opportunities through parks, trails, and facilities. Columbia County owns and/or maintains a total of 24 forests, parks, and trails, and is committed to enhancing the area's livability through these services. Parks provide benefits that enhance the quality of life for residents. They increase environmental awareness, contribute to physical and psychological health, boost local economies, and encourage community involvement.

A free site for your RV or fifth wheel is provided, along with water, electricity and garbage. A photo of your RV or fifth wheel will be requested.

General Statement of Duties:

  • Monitor Park activities.
  • Accept fees and donations.
  • Some on-site maintenance and custodial work required.
  • Ensure positive relations with Park users, campers and staff.
  • Position requires ability to perform maintenance duties (raking leaves, lifting items, emptying garbage cans, walking over uneven terrain, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Some related experience is preferred.
  • Applicants must be able to provide stable and consistent oversight of the Park.
  • A background and criminal history inquiry along with a reference check is required for each applicant.

Position Reports To: The Director of General Services is appointed to manage and staff the Parks volunteers and act as liaison between the Park volunteers and the Board.

Expectations: Be reliable, act responsibly and with integrity, be accountable for your actions, carry out duties according to the position description, be committed to Columbia County and your tour of service, undertake training as required, ask for support when needed, be courteous to participants, staff, other volunteers and value and support other team members.

Additional Training: Volunteer Orientation training will be provided.
