Job Description

The Association Director of Belonging & Engagement activates YMCA of Greater Richmond's belonging and engagement strategy by expanding employee resource groups (ERGs), driving staff engagement initiatives, managing signature events, and growing a culture of achievement, relationships and belonging. This person will collaborate across departments, especially Brand Advancement, Impact & Advocacy, and Human Resources, to ensure inclusive, measurable, and mission-aligned outcomes. Success in this position will rely heavily on leadership through influence.

What you will do

  • Execute and own the association-wide ERG strategy, supporting ERGs and their leadership teams to ensure initiatives are impactful, scalable, and contribute to employees thriving through Achievement, Relationships, and Belonging.
  • Collaborate across business lines to align belonging initiatives with the internal communications strategy, employee engagement data, retention strategies, and professional development efforts.
  • Support planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of Association-wide Signature Events in partnership with Advancement and Brand Advancement
  • Serve as primary project manager for identified ensemble teams, including planning and execution of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Day and other association-wide staff convenings
  • Support planning and execution of internal communications strategy including staff newsletters and internal "podcast"

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in culture work, program management, or community engagement
  • Strong project leadership, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Passion for building inclusive environments and working across diverse groups
  • Experience leading ERGs or cross‑functional initiatives
