Pet Explorers Camp Counselor (Seasonal) Schedule: Varied hours | Pay: $13.94/hour
Are you energetic, patient, and passionate about working with kids and animals-ready to create a fun, safe, and meaningful summer experience?
What You'll Do
You'll help lead a hands-on summer camp for kids ages 6–12, combining animal education, games, and activities while ensuring every camper feels safe, included, and engaged.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide campers, ensuring their physical and emotional safety at all times
- Lead games, activities, and animal-related lessons in a structured camp environment
- Support safe, educational interactions between campers and shelter animals
- Maintain clean, organized spaces and follow all safety procedures
- Build positive relationships with campers, families, and team members
What You Bring – Education & Experience
- At least 16 years old with an interest in working with children or animals
- Experience working with youth (camp, school, recreation, or similar)
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage groups of children
- Ability to stay organized, flexible, and calm in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Certifications
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid Driver's License (if operating City vehicles)
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to learn basic animal handling and behavior
- Understanding of child development and group supervision
- Ability to follow structured schedules and safety procedures
