Job Summary
The Cafeteria Attendant / Pantry Cook is responsible for preparing cold food items, assisting with basic food preparation, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and cafeteria area, and providing friendly service to guests or staff. This role supports daily food service operations while ensuring food safety, quality, and cleanliness standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and assemble cold food items such as salads, sandwiches, wraps, desserts, and beverages
Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen supervisor or chef
Set up, stock, and maintain cafeteria or pantry stations
Serve food in a courteous and professional manner
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, kitchen equipment, and cafeteria areas
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety guidelines at all times
Monitor food quality and freshness, properly labeling and storing items
Assist with restocking supplies and notifying leadership when inventory is low
Dispose of waste properly and follow recycling procedures
Support other kitchen or cafeteria duties as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous food service or cafeteria experience a plus, but not required
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Strong attention to cleanliness and organization
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–40 lbs as needed
Reliable, punctual, and customer-service oriented
Schedule & Work Environment
May include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Fast-paced food service environment requiring multitasking and teamwork
Physical Requirements
Standing and walking for long periods
Bending, lifting, and carrying kitchen supplies
Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment
