Job Description
**Assembly Technician | Grand Rapids | 1st and 2nd Shift**
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Perform repetitive mechanical assembly tasks at an assigned station
+ Assemble components and subassemblies following work instructions, training, and quality standards
+ Use hand tools and power tools daily to secure, adjust, and install components
+ Rotate between different workstations as production and customer demand requires
+ Move throughout the facility, including standing, walking, bending, twisting, and occasionally climbing into large units
+ Participate in required safety training and follow all safety procedures at all times
+ Assist with brazing, soldering, machine operation, and press operation once fully trained
+ Hang and unhang parts as part of the assembly process
+ Perform multiple quality checks and tests prior to shipment
+ Identify and report defects, malfunctions, or quality concerns to leadership
+ Learn to read and interpret basic blueprints and work instructions
+ Work closely with team members and a lead technician to meet daily production goals
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation
**Required Qualifications**
+ Minimum of **6 months of manufacturing or assembly experience**
+ **Ability to perform physically demanding work, including bending, twisting, and working inside large units**
+ **Ability to lift up to 40 lbs repetitively** throughout a shift
+ Comfortable working inside large equipment (non‑confined spaces per OSHA standards)
+ Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and mechanical components
+ Willingness to learn, rotate stations, and grow skills over time
+ Ability to stand and remain active for most of the shift
+ Reliable attendance and strong commitment to safety and quality
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 1+ year of manufacturing or assembly experience
+ Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or trade environment
+ Electrical or wiring experience, including basic components or conduit bending
+ Assembly line or station‑based production experience
+ Strong problem‑solving mindset and adaptability to changing production needs
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kentwood, MI.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
