Job Description

Summary/Objective

The Warehouse and Tool Room Supervisor will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our warehouse and inventory systems. This includes receiving and inspecting incoming shipments, maintaining accurate inventories, organizing the facility, and overseeing outbound orders. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and proactive in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager or designate.

Essential Functions

Receiving and Processing Shipments:

  • Inspect incoming deliveries to ensure accuracy of order, check for damage, and confirm compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Sort, label, and stock items in designated locations following inventory management protocols.

Order Fulfillment:

  • Accurately pick, pack, and prepare internal and external customer orders for shipment.
  • Ensure products are handled safely and efficiently to minimize damage and delays.

Inventory Management:

  • Perform regular cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain detailed and accurate stock levels.
  • Ensure inventory records are accurate and up to date.

Material Handling Equipment Operation:

  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure material handling equipment remains in good working order.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and coordinate external service for damaged/inoperable equipment.

Tool and Equipment Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of tools and equipment including location and status.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure tools and equipment remain in good working order.
  • Conduct minor maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate external service for damaged/inoperable tools and equipment.
  • Make recommendations for replacement of obsolete or unserviceable tools and equipment.

Facility Maintenance:

  • Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisors promptly.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety training programs and actively contribute to a culture of workplace safety.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and shop environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE when required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary depending on schedule and job contract. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. We provide paid holidays, PTO, paid medical, vision, dental and 401(k) benefits.

Travel

Travel is primarily local to Hampton Roads during the business day.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Must have strong organizational skills
  2. Must have a valid driver license
  3. Forklift driver (preferred)
  4. High school diploma or equivalent
  5. Ability to lift and move objects weighing between 25 and 50 lbs. regularly and occasionally heavier items with assistance
  6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  7. Basic math skills for inventory and order accuracy
  8. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for extended periods
  9. Reliable transportation
  10. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  11. Prior experience in a warehouse, logistics, or supply chain role. (preferred)
