The City will be filling one open position at either the Assistant Planner or Associate Planner level depending on qualifications. The Assistant Planner classification is distinguished from the Associate Planner classification by the assignment of more entry level duties and responsibilities; the Associate Planner position has a full range of journey-level duties and responsibilities. ASSISTANT PLANNER
$35.86-40.72 base pay
$35.86-45.61 total pay range (with maximum potential longevity pay)
Requires high school graduation (or GED) with minimum of two years post-secondary education in planning, engineering, or related field. Relevant education and professional experience, preferably at local governmental level, may be considered as equivalent if it provides desired skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Requires well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to establish effective, ongoing relationships with public officials, applicants, members of the public, and fellow staff. A positive attitude and a strong desire to assist the public are essential.
ASSOCIATE PLANNER
$39.95-48.33 base pay
$39.95-54.13 total pay range (with maximum potential longevity)
Requires high school graduation (or GED) and any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in land-use planning, urban planning, landscape architecture, geography, or a related field.
Minimum two years of experience as an assistant planner or entry-level planner or equivalent.
Requires well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to establish effective, ongoing relationships with public officials, applicants, members of the public, and fellow staff. A positive attitude and a strong desire to assist the public are essential.
This position may be eligible for the additional compensation listed below. Details can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
* Teamsters initiation fee is $100 and monthly dues are 2.25 of hourly wage x the base hourly rate rounded to the nearest dollar.
