The anticipated salary range for this role is between $20.00 and $30.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees. **Role Description** SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. is seeking to hire an intern IT Operations specialist within its DevOps group. This is an important role requiring interaction with an array of technologists, possibly at globally disparate sites. The appropriate candidate will take part in responding to first tier application support for the Development Group, as well as specifying and implementing in-house IT operations support throughout the firm, drawing upon their automation, debugging, scripting and/or testing skills. They will gain demonstrable knowledge of key business processes and software infrastructure. **Role Objectives** + Responding to first tier application support for the Development Group, recording details, analyzing and triaging the problem, tracking to problem resolution, documenting root cause analysis, reporting on and publishing KPI/KPO indicators. + Assuming responsibility for the execution and completion of all automated, recurring IT jobs such that they meet their SLAs. + Monitoring a diverse array of automated jobs on a daily basis. + Investigating failures, providing fault analysis first level support; identifying and contacting additional support staff as necessary. + Facilitating, conducting and/or automating debugging, testing, output collection, and software log analysis. + Analyzing and recording the details surrounding all incidents and/or failures. + Documenting and accumulating known IT support responses for training purposes. + Restarting failed software jobs as necessary. + Work with DevOps, development teams on developing DevOps CI/CD release pipelines. + Assist DevOps team on the Cloud buildout/migration project. + Develop and test scripts/programs to automate manual IT process. + Perform Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence application administration and support on Atlassian Cloud **Qualifications and Skills** + Working towards a four-year computer science or similar technology/engineering college degree. + A general familiarity with software operations in both distributed and client-server environments. + Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with developers, end-users, infrastructure, and IT security. + Clear, authoritative, professional communications (listening, oral and written communications) and excellent follow through. + Strong organizational and coordination skills are essential, as is the ability to focus on multiple projects simultaneously. + Experience with Shell/PowerShell/Python scripting, Git, SQL are a plus. + Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office tools. + Must possess a strong work ethic and analytical skills; interested in understanding complex, global software systems. + Reliable; pays attention to details; possesses the ability to both troubleshoot and reason about software behaviors. + Has strong communication skills and is able to work independently within a team environment. + Programming and/or scripting skills are preferred. **Additional Requirements** SMBC's employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office.
