**Job Description** **Position Title:** **Senior Immigration Specialist-HR International Personnel-Mount Sinai Health System-Full Time-Days** **Position Summary:** The Senior Immigration Specialist must be able to work in an environment that deals with immigration policies and regulations which are continuously evolving. This position contributes to the development of immigration processes by providing strategic oversight that will enhance best practices and improve the team's overall efficiency. The Senior Immigration Specialist will respond to correspondence with The Department of State, The Department of Homeland Security and other related governmental agencies for any issues or concerns regarding a non-immigrant visa category. Supports the hospital policies and procedures on U.S. visa application process, understands current requirements, and remains abreast on recent developments and carrying out the responsibilities of the Exchange Visitor Program. This individual reports to the Senior Associate Dean, International Personnel in Human Resources. **Qualifications** **Education Requirements:** Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Human Resources or Bachelor's of Science/Bachelor's of Arts from a 4 year accredited College or University. Bachelor's degree in English, History, Political Science, or other majors that require persuasive writing, strong reading comprehension, and analytic thinking strongly preferred. **Experience Requirements:** + 3 years experience in the field of immigration is required. + Prior experience in corporate immigration or academic institution with focus in healthcare strongly preferred. + Experience with filing NIV and IV petitions and responding to RFE's. + Must be flexible, innovative and creative, with high energy + Excellent organization skills/detail oriented + Must be able to work within a ?team? based approach + Must show initiative and ability to accomplish work independently with minimal supervision + Must be able to instruct and teach other team members + Must be able to work in strict time constraints + Knowledgeable in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Immigration Tracker + Customer service oriented Non-Bargaining Unit, 573 - HR International Personnel - MSH, Mount Sinai Hospital **Responsibilities** + The incumbent will possess a strong knowledge of procedural requirements for various types of nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions. Will prepare and submit NIV petitions such as H-1B, E-3, O-1, TN visa petitions and respond to RFE's. + Reviews proposed job descriptions and recommend appropriate visa classification for Foreign Nationals. + Will trouble shoot, analyze, and establish case strategy and communicate regularly with foreign national (FN) employees regarding their visa status including consular processing matters. + Will advise employees on visa application processes and rules/regulations regarding proper maintenance of immigration status. + Will liaise with outside counsel and institutional departments on PERM Labor Certification petitions and PNIW etc + Will prepare IV petitions (I-140) such as Outstanding Researcher petitions and file corresponding Application for Adjustment of Status. + Will liaise with various government agencies including USCIS, DOS, DOL, CBP, ICE, etc. as well as congressional or senatorial representatives. + Administers individual orientation sessions to foreign nationals on how to maintain legal visa sponsorship. + Will be eligible for DSO (F-1) and ARO (J-1) visa responsibilities through SEVIS. + Will train and supervise junior staff in immigration related topics and serve as mentor for junior level staff. Will assist with immigration site visits, audits, and system wide data reporting. Will attend institutional meetings representing International Personnel, will liaise with department administrators and will participate in presentation of informational immigration seminars + Maintain a working knowledge of current US Citizenship & Immigration Services, US Department of State, Department of Labor, trends, issues and developments regarding immigration in order to incorporate professional practice/service. + Interpret, identify and analyze critical, operational and system data and works as a team player to help facilitate the services. The salary range for the role is $72473 - $108709 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
