Description We are looking for a skilled Legal Word Processor to join our team on a long-term contract basis in New York, New York for the 6pm-1am SHIFT. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting legal professionals by preparing and managing various legal documents with precision and efficiency. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment while contributing to the success of a legal department. Responsibilities: - Format, edit, and proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards. - Collaborate with attorneys and legal teams to prepare filings and correspondence for opposing counsel. - Maintain organized records and document management systems for efficient retrieval and tracking. - Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for the law department. - Ensure timely submission of legal documentation to appropriate stakeholders. - Communicate effectively with licensed attorneys and other legal professionals to support case preparation. - Apply knowledge of legal terminology and practices to draft and revise documents. - Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism. Requirements - Proven experience in legal word processing or a similar role within a law department. - Strong knowledge of legal terminology and document formatting standards. - Familiarity with working alongside opposing counsel and legal professionals. - Possession of a law degree or demonstrable legal knowledge. - Licensed attorney status is preferred but not required. - Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
