**Shop Assistant - Kalamazoo, MI** + $20.00-24.00 per hour + Per Diem Included + Great Company Benefits **Job Description** The Shop Assistant supports daily operations in a busy, well-organized shop environment. This role focuses on organizing inbound parts, cleaning and maintaining work areas, and preparing materials for various projects on a daily and weekly basis. The position requires a mechanically inclined individual who enjoys hands-on work, manual labor, and contributing to a collaborative team. **Responsibilities** + Organize inbound parts and materials as they arrive at the shop to ensure they are stored correctly and easy to locate. + Prepare and stage parts and materials for upcoming projects on a daily and weekly basis. + Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe shop environment by performing regular cleaning and housekeeping tasks. + Assist with various shop projects as needed, supporting technicians and other team members with hands-on tasks. + Help gather and assemble parts for active and scheduled projects to keep workflows efficient and on schedule. + Use a company vehicle to transport parts or materials as needed, following all driving and safety guidelines. + Perform manual labor tasks, including lifting, moving, and positioning materials and equipment up to 75 pounds. + Support general inventory organization and basic inventory-related tasks to keep stock areas tidy and accessible. **Essential Skills** + Proven ability to perform manual labor in a shop or similar environment. + Strong cleaning and organizational skills with attention to detail. + Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed. + Clean driving record and ability to safely operate a company vehicle. + Mechanically inclined and comfortable working around tools, parts, and materials. + Reliable work ethic with the ability to follow directions and support multiple tasks in a day. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Military experience is a plus. + Experience with general labor, cleaning, and inventory support is beneficial. + Comfort working in a team-focused shop environment. **Why Work Here?** You will join a growing organization that offers long-term stability and clear opportunities for advancement. This is a first-shift position with typical hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some flexibility as needed. The work involves physical activity, including manual labor and lifting, in an indoor shop setting. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
