**Job Title: Sheet Metal Technician**
**Job Description**
The Sheet Metal Technician installs high- and low-pressure ductwork and related components for a large data center project. This role focuses on precise hanger installation, high-quality duct connections, and safe operation in an active construction environment during a daytime schedule.
**Responsibilities**
+ Install hangers for duct systems, including sheet metal straps from pre-installed concrete deck inserts and trapeze strut hangers.
+ Install high-pressure duct systems using TDF/TDC flange rectangular duct connections, ensuring secure, airtight joints.
+ Cut in taps and make necessary modifications to high-pressure ductwork based on project specifications and field conditions.
+ Install low-pressure duct systems, including cutting and installing spiral ductwork and fittings to meet design and code requirements.
+ Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan and execute duct installation accurately.
+ Use hand and power tools, including impact drills, wrenches, pliers, channel locks, vice grips, sockets, and screwdrivers, to complete installations safely and efficiently.
+ Operate scissor lifts and other approved equipment to perform work at heights in a safe and controlled manner.
+ Follow all site safety requirements, including proper use of required PPE such as hard hat, gloves, eye protection, and fall protection when needed.
+ Collaborate with other trades and team members to coordinate installation activities and maintain project schedules.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area, properly store tools and materials, and report any safety concerns or equipment issues promptly.
**Essential Skills**
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience installing ductwork in construction or industrial environments.
+ Proficiency in installing sheet metal duct, including high-pressure TDF/TDC flange rectangular duct connections.
+ Experience cutting and installing spiral ductwork and fittings for low-pressure systems.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints related to HVAC and duct installation.
+ Strong experience in sheet metal, HVAC, duct work, and HVAC installation.
+ Current or obtainable OSHA 10 (or higher) safety certification.
+ Current or obtainable scissor lift certification.
+ Ownership and proficient use of hand tools, including impact drill, wrenches, pliers, channel locks, vice grips, 9/16" sockets with impact adapter, and screwdrivers.
+ Ability to work safely at heights while following all safety protocols.
+ Reliable attendance and ability to work the scheduled daytime hours.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Journeyman card in a related trade is a plus.
+ OSHA 30 certification is beneficial.
+ Experience in construction, commercial construction, or industrial construction environments.
+ Experience with stainless steel welding or general welding is an asset.
+ Familiarity with harness and retractable fall protection systems.
+ Strong attention to detail and quality in all aspects of duct installation.
+ Ability to document work and communicate clearly about progress and any issues encountered.

**Work Environment**
This position is based on a large data center construction project with work hours typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with optional Saturday work as needed. The environment is an active commercial or industrial construction site where coordination with multiple trades is common. You will use a variety of tools and equipment, including impact drills, hand tools, scissor lifts, and other standard construction equipment. Personal protective equipment is required at all times, including a type 2 hard hat with chin strap, cut level 5 gloves, high-visibility apparel, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and fall protection such as a harness and retractable lifeline when working at heights. The role involves standing, walking, lifting, and working at elevated levels for extended periods in a fast-paced, safety-driven setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
