We are looking for an experienced Benefits Consultant to join our team in San Mateo, California. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage various aspects of benefits administration, including open enrollment, leave of absence coordination, and workers' compensation processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in benefits management and compliance within a non-profit environment. 4 days remote and 1 day onsite
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of benefits administration, including managing leave of absence processes, workers' compensation claims, and 401k program updates.
- Coordinate and execute open enrollment activities from planning to implementation, ensuring timely communication and smooth transitions for employees.
- Manage the full leave of absence lifecycle, including eligibility inquiries, documentation, tracking, and facilitating employees' return to work.
- Process and document workers' compensation claims, acting as a liaison with third-party providers and ensuring compliance with all policies.
- Conduct weekly orientations to ensure employees are well-informed about benefits and organizational policies.
- Support onboarding activities, including initiating background checks and assisting new team members with required paperwork.
- Generate and analyze benefit-related reports within the HR system to maintain oversight and accuracy.
- Audit employee records and ensure data integrity while maintaining compliance with data protection regulations.
- Collaborate with vendors for 401k administration and provide updates and information as needed.
- Maintain accurate employee records and continuously improve data management practices.
Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of HR experience with a strong focus on benefits administration.
- Extensive knowledge of leave of absence policies, workers' compensation procedures, and 401k management.
- Proficiency in running reports and managing data in HR systems; experience with Ready is preferred.
- Familiarity with SharePoint software is a plus.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with teams and external vendors.
