Lab Technician - Arc Shop

📍Location: Bartonville/ Peoria, IL

💰 Starting Salary Range: Job Grade 16 - $48,000 - $52,000

📅 Schedule: Full-time

What You'll Do:

✅ Maintain accurate calibration of lab testing equipment to ensure reliable and repeatable test results.
✅ Perform routine and specialized testing such as tensile, upset, size measurements, and surface inspection.
✅ Analyze material characteristics to ensure compliance with customer standards and internal specifications.
✅ Maintain strong working knowledge of surface defects, packaging standards, and trimming requirements.
✅ Collaborate with Rod Mill Inspectors, Trimmers, and Supervisors to support consistent application of product quality standards.
✅ Participate in training and mentoring of new Inspectors, Trimmers, and Supervisors.
✅ Determine product disposition using inspection data to assess fitness-for-use.
✅ Flag, hold, or reject material that does not meet specifications.
✅ Communicate effectively with mill personnel to identify, address, and help eliminate root causes of defects.
✅ Accurately log inspection and test results in computer systems and maintain paper records when necessary.
✅ Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality and testing accuracy.

What We're Looking For:

🔹 Experience: 1-3 months of related lab, quality, or industrial experience preferred. Training provided!
🔹 Education: High school diploma or GED required.

🔹 Skills: Comfortable using Microsoft Office and lab data entry software, basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.), strong attention to detail and ability to follow testing protocols, and good communication skills to work effectively across departments.

🔹 Mindset: Self-motivated and proactive, safety-focused with a quality-first mindset, team player with a strong sense of accountability and willing to learn and grow in a technical industrial environment.
