CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Data Scientist - Optimization Focus.

**Location:** Remote
**Pay Rate:** $110.00/hr - $125.00/hr
**Work Hours:** M-F 8am-5pm
**Education:** PhD in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on Optimization during graduate studies
**Description**
CTG is seeking an experienced Data Scientist - Optimization Focus to support optimization modeling for manufacturing and supply chain processes. This hybrid role is primarily remote, with travel to Corning, NY or plant locations as needed. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and improve optimization models across various business applications.
**Requirements:**
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in industry roles focused on numerical optimization
- Additional academic research or teaching in numerical optimization is a plus
- Domestic and international travel up to 25%
- Must be eligible to work in the US for at least 18 months
**Required Qualifications**
_Education_
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with graduate-level focus on optimization
_Qualifications_
- Expertise in convex optimization, MILPs, NLPs, and large-scale solvers (e.g., Gurobi)
- Proficient in Python (with Pyomo), MATLAB, and AMPL
- Familiarity with Git/version control systems
- Proven ability to translate business processes and logic into mathematical formulations
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across interdisciplinary teams
- Experience building models from scratch and improving existing optimization models
**Desired Skills**
- Familiarity with GAMS or MiniZinc
- Knowledge of machine learning/data analysis techniques to inform optimization
- Experience working with supply chain, planning, and operations teams
- Ability to identify key objectives and constraints from business requirements
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and implement optimization models (LP, NLP, MILP) for manufacturing and supply chain challenges
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business problems and translate them into mathematical models
- Enhance model predictive control (MPC) frameworks
- Gather and preprocess data in coordination with data scientists and engineers
- Use tools such as Gurobi, Pyomo, AMPL, and MATLAB to develop optimization solutions
- Communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Provide documentation and training to engineering/manufacturing teams

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $110.00/hr to $125.00/hr. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
