About the Role

The Resilient Central Coast (RCC) Program Coordinator II is a pivotal role focused on fostering community engagement and climate action across a six-county collaborative initiative, with a particular emphasis on the tri-county region of Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey. Reporting to the RCC Program Manager I, this position is instrumental in mobilizing high school and college-age youth through the Youth Climate Action program, as well as encouraging broader community participation via the RCC online platform.  


What you'll be doing

  • Community Engagement
    • Recruiting high school and college-age youth to participate in the Youth Climate Action Program on the Monterey Peninsula.
    • Engaging high school teachers to adopt and utilize Ecology Action's climate action curriculum.
    • Developing partnerships with local civic, church and youth groups. in the Monterey Bay Area as part of our deep community engagement strategy including identifying leaders among group.
    • Establishing and maintaining groups as teams on the RCC platform.
    • Supporting groups in ongoing meetings utilizing customizable agendas to promote climate action dialogue and initiatives.
    • Identifying and cultivating partnerships with local businesses, encouraging employee engagement on the RCC platform.
    • Exploring community partnerships to leverage existing community events, festivals and tabling opportunities for 1:1 engagement through tabling and presentations.
  • Platform Maintenance & Reporting
    • Tracking and analyzing RCC platform metrics on.
    • Regularly reporting out on participation numbers and metrics.
    • Maintaining an up-to-date database and current listing of resources, incentive opportunities, and rebates on the RCC platform.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in project/program coordination
  • Valid California Class C Driver License, current automobile insurance, and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in the fields of community climate programming, community organizing, environmental education, government funded environmental programs or related fields
  • Experience coordinating multiple partners and maintaining high functioning, collaborative relationships with both government and nonprofit staff and community members
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS office products: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as collaborative workspaces including Teams
  • Strongly committed to equitable climate change action with a focus on activating individual and community engagement in solutions for a thriving people and planet.
  • Familiarity or experience with central coast public agencies and nonprofits.

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear, use a computer keyboard and monitor and may occasionally require the employee to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The position is hybrid (home/office), requiring the employee to be on-site at our Santa Cruz Office at least two days per week and requires frequent weekend eligibility.


This program is funded through June 30th, 2026.
