Job Title: SPED PreK Teaching Assistant
A SPED PreK teacher assistant works with students with physical, behavioral, or developmental disabilities in a preschool setting, performing support tasks to help execute a lead teacher's lesson plans.
Education Requirements: Associates Degree or CDE Certificate receives priority.
Core duties and responsibilities
- Student support: Work one-on-one or in small groups with children to reinforce skills, implement lesson plans, and meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
- Classroom management: Help supervise children during classroom activities, recess, and lunch, as well as with daily routines like handwashing.
- Behavioral assistance: Assist with classroom discipline and support students in developing self-help and social-emotional skills.
- Personal care: Help with personal hygiene tasks, such as toileting, dressing, and eating, as needed for students with more severe disabilities.
- Material preparation: Assist the lead teacher with creating and organizing educational materials, preparing visual aids, and maintaining the classroom environment.
