Zehnder Rittling is hiring an on-site full-time skilled SENIOR PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST / PLANNER to join our Facility in Buffalo, New York.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced buyer / procurement specialist to manage the supply chain, sourcing, negotiation, purchasing and delivery of materials, products, and services for our organization. The successful candidate will ensure timely and cost-effective procurement, optimize supplier relationships, and maintain compliance with internal policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sourcing and Procurement:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers/vendors based on product quality, cost, and delivery time.
  • Issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and negotiate terms with suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage the procurement process, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with organizational needs.
• Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure reliable service and competitive pricing.
  • Develop new supplier relationships to improve product offerings and cost efficiency.
  • Conduct performance reviews and resolve issues related to product quality or delivery delays.
• Budget and Cost Control:
  • Work closely with department managers to understand procurement needs required to achieve forecasted sales.
  • Analyze market trends and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.
  • Negotiate pricing and payment terms with suppliers to maximize savings.
• Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational procurement policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, tool lending and supplier agreements.
  • Prepare reports on procurement activities and cost savings for management review.
• Inventory Management:
  • Track inventory levels and coordinate the procurement of supplies to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to forecast material requirements.
• Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks in the procurement process (e.g., supplier instability, market fluctuations) and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred).
• Proven experience (5+ years) in procurement or purchasing roles.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage supplier relationships.
• Familiarity with procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Knowledge of supply chain management principles and contract negotiation a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Legally entitled to work in the United States

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in industrial manufacturing may be advantageous.
• Certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are a plus.

Working Conditions:

• This is a full-time, day shift position (40 hours per week), with additional hours as needed to support business and departmental needs.
• Fully On-site - position during the training period.
• Hybrid (up to 2 days a week) may be an option along with occasional travel to supplier sites or trade shows.
