Job Description
Description We are looking for an Attorney/Lawyer to support a Financial Services organization in Miami, Florida. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a Florida-licensed attorney with early-career litigation experience, particularly in insurance defense or bodily injury matters. The selected attorney will manage an active caseload, drive case strategy, and provide consistent updates on litigation progress while representing the organization in Dade County courts.
Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned litigation matters from intake through resolution, ensuring each file moves forward efficiently and in line with legal deadlines.
- Take ownership of referrals received from the claims team and advance each matter with a proactive, defense-focused approach.
- Build and maintain a clear case strategy for every assignment, incorporating litigation risk, venue dynamics, opposing counsel tendencies, and other relevant considerations.
- Prepare, organize, and update legal documentation, including pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and related case materials.
- Communicate meaningful case developments to claims partners through timely written reporting, with regular updates provided at least every 60 days.
- Conduct discovery activities such as drafting responses, reviewing produced materials, coordinating depositions, and summarizing testimony.
- Draft persuasive motions and supporting briefs to strengthen case positions and support litigation objectives.
- Represent the client in court proceedings and case-related appearances within Dade County as needed. Requirements - Active membership in the Florida State Bar with all licensing and continuing education requirements kept current.
- At least 2 years of experience practicing law, with exposure to litigation matters in a detail-oriented legal setting.
- Background in insurance defense, bodily injury, or closely related civil litigation work is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to draft motions, briefs, discovery documents, and other litigation-related filings.
- Experience coordinating depositions and preparing deposition summaries for case development.
- Ability to manage multiple active files while maintaining strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Must be eligible and prepared to handle matters in Dade County courts.
