Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments and develops solutions to complex problems. **Duties and Responsibilities** + Oversee the manufacturing and testing of our payload products. Interface with the project management team to understand and drive the manufacturing team to implement the program required schedule and technical requirements. + Provides leadership in the analysis, evaluation and resolution of engineering related production problems. + Ability to read and understand moderate to complex documentation such as drawings, schematics, diagrams, wire lists, work instructions, production orders and procedures. + Evaluate and resolve production issues related to manufacturing, design, quality and material engineering. + Ability to understand Assemble, Alignment and Bonding of optical components tight tolerances, including potting of lenses, bipods to mirror substrates, etc. + Experience with air bearing rotary table Height gauge, electronic indicators + Uses calibrated tools such as DMM's, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches and crimpers + Evaluates, develops and controls manufacturing processes, procedures and tooling + Work closely with engineering in build process development and improvement, application of lessons learned + Analyzes defective, damaged or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment and systems; analyzes and routes non-conforming reports; develops and implements corrective action. + Investigates and recommends design and process changes, coordinates with engineering and manufacturing departments. + Identifies training needs and develops training plans and schedules. + Represents the department as a primary contact with outside representatives; may represent department as member of change control board. + Provides directions to support staff and mentor less experienced staff. + Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
