We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role will support senior leadership and contribute to the financial health of a rapidly growing organization focused on cybersecurity to both government and commercial customers.

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for executing day-to-day accounting tasks, managing financial records, and supporting both internal and external financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in government contracting environments and be well-versed in GAAP, cost accounting, and compliance with federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, and cash receipts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of internal and external financial reports.
  • Support the development of annual budgets and assist with year-end audits and tax preparation.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local accounting and tax regulations.
  • Handle office purchasing and coordinate administrative activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit and tax schedules for independent and government auditors.
  • Generate variance analyses, troubleshoot accounting system errors, and manage project cost pools in Deltek Costpoint.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal teams, external consultants, and auditors.
  • Manage billing for government contracts and ensure accuracy in compliance and reporting.
  • Support program managers with budgeting, forecasting, burn rate analysis, and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee tracking and depreciation of fixed assets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a government contracting environment.
  • Experience with cost accounting systems; proficiency in Deltek Costpoint is a strong plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to clearly convey complex information to non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of our work with government contracts.
