Job Title: Captain - Towing Vessel

United Trades of America is seeking a leader in dredge support, towline barging, and marine services, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain to join our team. If you are an experienced mariner with a passion for safety, efficiency, and team leadership, we want you on board!
Principal Responsibilities:
- Crew & Vessel Management: Oversee the safe and efficient operation of your crew, vessel, and tow, ensuring smooth operations in all aspects.
- Policy Adherence: Ensure all company policies, federal, state, and local laws are followed, reporting any violations as needed.
- Safety & Training: Conduct monthly safety drills and meetings, monitor crew performance, and ensure all crew members are properly trained on their duties.
- Security & Safety Compliance: Act as the designated Vessel Security Officer, enforcing all aspects of the Vessel Security Plan.
- Cargo & Hazards Management: Ensure all crew members understand the cargo being carried and its associated hazards.
- Crew & Performance Management: Participate in crew evaluations, budget management, and general supervisory duties.
- Documentation & Communication: Maintain logs, report to the office, and provide direction to mates and lead deckhands.
- Efficient Operations: Manage the vessel's budget, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising safety or operational quality.
Qualifications:
- USCG License: Must have a valid USCG Master of Towing Vessels license (Near Coastal minimum, Oceans preferred).
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in dredge support, anchor handling, and tow lining barges as Master of Towing on the US East Coast & Gulf of Mexico.
- Physical Fitness: Must meet USCG physical examination requirements and be capable of performing physical tasks such as climbing steep stairs and standing for extended periods.
- Travel & Availability: Travel including airfare is provided to and from the ship. Must have a valid driver's license and be flexible with travel schedules.
- TWIC: Maintain an active Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Specific Requirements:
- Must have Master or Mate of Towing Near Coastal license (Oceans preferred).
- Experience working coastwise on the US East Coast & Gulf of Mexico is required.
Work Schedule:
- Approximate schedule of 28 days on / 14 days off
- Flexibility required for call-outs, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
