**MUSIC PRACTITIONER**
The music practitioner needs to have strong musical skills (often guitar, piano, and voice), empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills to connect with clients of all ages. This paticular role at Baylor University Medical Center will serve the general population with emphasis on end of life.
+ Location: Baylor University Medical Center, 3500 Gaston Ave, Dallas, 75246
+ Schedule/Shift: FT/Days (40 hours /week)
+ Prefer experience
+ Must be Certified by CMP or CCM
+ **Will consider candidates with the following certifications if you have appropriate experience** :
+ Harp for Healing (CCM); Musicians for Healing and Transition program (MHTP);
+ International Harp Therapy Program and Bedside Harp program.
+ Music- Thanatologist are certified by Music Thanatology Association International (CM-Th).

**Job Summary**
A Music Practitioner plays calming music at the bedside or in clinics. This helps promote comfort, relaxation, and peace for patients, family members, and caregivers.
**Essential Functions of the Role**
+ Serve patients, families, and caregivers by assessing their emotional and physical state and offering appropriate musical interventions.
+ Respond to referrals quickly. Set priorities for music therapy at the bedside or in clinics.
+ Collaborate and communicate with other staff about patient referrals and visits. Record interventions, responses, and requests from patients, families, and caregivers.
**Key Success Factors**
+ Experience providing music interventions in a healthcare setting is required.
+ Musical skill is required.
+ Ability to deal with complex situations and resolve patient and/or customer service concerns.
+ Ability to give clear, concise, and complete education and/or instructions.
+ Works well in a patient-centered environment as an integral team player.
+ Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
+ Empathetic listener, sensitive, upbeat, optimistic, articulate, gracious, and tactful.
+ Ability to calm upset patients in a composed and professional demeanor.

+ EDUCATION - Associate's
+ EXPERIENCE - 1 Year of Experience
+ CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -Certified Music Practitioner (CMP)
