Automation Technician - Plant 22 Thomson
Position Overview
Shaw Industries is looking for an Automation Technician who will work to support hands-on implementation and maintenance of Automation initiatives at the Thomson manufacturing facility; they will need a strong background in electrical, automation, and manufacturing applications.

Essential Duties:
+ Troubleshoot Automation System problems and facilitate necessary repairs. Determine cause of Automation System failures and take necessary steps to prevent recurrence. Determine if mechanical or electrical conditions exist that cause Automation System failures and communicate the problem to the proper personnel.
+ Responsible for documentation and communication of all new, upgraded or revised software, programs and communication equipment delivered.
+ Responsible for the Automation System support during off shift working hours. Should assistance be needed to make off shift repairs, contact the proper personnel.
+ Willing to work beyond 40 hours if project implementation requires it. This position is eligible for overtime.
+ Will be available "on call" during scheduled times. During the "on call" times, individual will be available to provide advice, assistance, and physical support if the problem requires.
+ Use Six Sigma Tools for continuous improvement.
+ Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with instructions, work orders, and service manuals.
+ Active member of TPM activities, and assist other maintenance department personnel as needed
+ Manage projects from initial scope development to completion of installation, including capital projects
+ Must be able to troubleshoot PLC ladder logic in both Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms
+ Must be able to write ladder logic in both languages
+ Must be able to troubleshoot communication issues with equipment in the facility.
Other Duties:
+ Maintain a clean and safe work area and perform all work in a safe manner.
+ Comply with procedures found in SMS
+ Create, maintain, and enforce automation and electrical standards
+ Coach and mentor Automation Technicians and Electricians
+ Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements:
+ Minimum of High school diploma/GED required
+ Experience working in a manufacturing environment, maintenance role preferred
+ Experience with PLC's, programming, and electrical work in an industrial setting preferred
