About the Position:

Develop a supportive relationship with current and potential foster parents as they provide for youth in care.

A Typical Day as a Foster Parent Mentor:

  • Partner with licensing and case work staff to assist foster parents in identifying and over-coming barriers facing foster parents.
  • Assist identified foster parents with linkage to community resources and support to stabilize their fostering experience.
  • Document all contact using the appropriate CYFS documentation process.
  • Provide opportunities for foster parents to network with other foster parents.

Location:

1630 S. State St. Springfield, IL. This office provides services to the following counties: Sangamon, Morgan, and Macon

Work Hours:

This is a part-time position, up to 10 hours per week. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional; based around the availability of youth and families served.

Does the Following Apply to You?

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Past or Current Foster Parent Experience (preferred)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Completion of DCFS criminal background check and fingerprinting
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Obtain an insured vehicle
  • At least three years of driving experience with a valid driver's license
