**Your role and responsibilities**
We are looking for Research Scientists for our Yorktown Heights New York office with a strong passion for research and development driving ground-breaking work in the design and implementation of new hardware solutions for AI acceleration. You must have demonstrated expertise in VLSI circuit design and architecture through research publications or implementations. Be prepared to work with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team spanning hardware and software to establish and drive research projects in hardware acceleration and microprocessor design. A strong background in the design, modeling, and simulation of microprocessors/ASICs is essential, as is proven expertise in high-performance integrated circuit design, low-power techniques, and electronic design automation tools. Experience in processor and accelerator architecture, logic design, and ASIC design flows is preferred. Collaboration and written and verbal communication are critical to our work as our projects demand close interactions with other IBM Research groups, product division partners, and government and commercial customers.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Proven circuit design fundamentals and hardware implementation experience as a logic/physical designer of SoC chips in AI accelerators and/or microprocessors
* 5 years experience in VLSI logic designs and physical designs
* 5 years experience in using electronic design automation tools
* multiple ASIC SoC tape-out experiences
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Ph.D degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a related area is required.
