El Centro Family Health is seeking a full-time Dental Hygienist, dedicated to serving the needs of our community.

An ideal candidate should possess the following qualities:

  • Willing to travel to outlying clinics as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge and fluent skills of Microsoft Office Excel and Word applications, internet explorer usage, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

The Dental Hygienist promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening, radiographic studies; charting restorations, periodontal pocket measurements; performing procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act; gathering and updating patient information. The Dental Hygienist promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening, radiographic studies; charting restorations, periodontal pocket measurements; performing procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act; gathering and updating patient information.

The primary duties of the dental hygienist include cleaning and polishing teeth, instructing patients in good oral hygiene habits and after care for dental treatments rendered, and providing other preventative dental care, and work chair-side as needed, with the dentist during examinations and treatments. The dental hygienist may also, take X-rays, make molds for crowns and dental prosthetics, remove sutures, polish fillings and other metal restorations, take and record medical history and medication lists.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED plus graduation from a two-year

ADA- accredited school of Dental Hygiene.

Licensure: Licensure to practice dental hygiene from any state, territory or province recognized by the Council on Education of the American Dental Association is required. If Licensure is from other than the State of New Mexico, endorsement by the New Mexico State Board of Dentistry is required.

Certificate: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Experience: No specialized experience required.
