**Job Title:** Facilities / Production Equipment Technician
**Location:** Northern, NJ
**Shift:** Monday - Friday, 1st Shift
**Pay Range:** $38 - $45 per hour (based on experience)
**Position Summary:**
A leading pharmaceutical organization is seeking a skilled Facilities / Production Equipment Mechanic to support the maintenance and reliability of facility systems and production equipment in a CGMP-regulated environment. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with PLC and VFD systems, and the ability to manage preventive and corrective maintenance for both utility and production systems.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Facilities Maintenance and Utilities:**
+ Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on facility utility systems including purified water systems, clean steam generators, boilers, chilled water systems, waste systems, and compressed air systems.
+ Maintain and repair motors, pumps, valves, and associated equipment to ensure optimal facility operation.
+ Support calibration and maintenance of facility instrumentation and monitoring systems.
+ Coordinate with external vendors for HVAC systems and other outsourced maintenance services.
+ Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with CGMP, safety regulations, and company procedures.
**Electrical and Controls:**
+ Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLC-based controls, and electrical panels.
+ Support diagnostics of PLC systems and contribute to minor programming adjustments when necessary.
+ Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems as they relate to production and utility operations.
+ Safely install and maintain electrical wiring, motors, and controls in accordance with applicable codes.
**Production Equipment Maintenance:**
+ Provide mechanical and electrical support for manufacturing equipment such as fillers, blister packaging lines, and spray dryers.
+ Perform equipment changeovers, adjustments, and timely repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
+ Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure equipment meets operational and compliance standards.
**Documentation and Compliance:**
+ Accurately document all maintenance activities in accordance with CGMP standards.
+ Complete and maintain work orders, maintenance logs, calibration records, and inspection documentation.
+ Support audits and inspections by maintaining thorough and accurate documentation.
**Qualifications:**
+ High school diploma or GED required; technical trade school or related certifications preferred.
+ A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or CGMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
+ Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, and mechanical systems including hydraulics and pneumatics.
+ Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex facility and production systems.
+ Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and calibration practices.
+ Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to work effectively with external vendors and cross-functional teams.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and SOPs.
**Working Conditions:**
+ Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical tasks in mechanical and utility spaces.
+ Work may involve exposure to mechanical, electrical, and pressurized equipment.
+ Must be able to work independently and follow safety procedures at all times.
