Job Description

We are currently seeking a Blend Technician for our Phoenix, AZ location.

Scope of Position:

The Blend Technician at Phlex will play a crucial role in our operations, responsible for the precise blending of ingredients according to client specifications. This individual will ensure the highest standards of quality and consistency in all blends produced, contributing to the success and growth of our company.

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Execute blending operations according to batch records and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  2. Accurately measure and weigh ingredients for each blend, ensuring compliance with client specifications.
  3. Operate blending equipment, including mixers, scales, and other machinery, safely and efficiently.
  4. Monitor blending processes, adjusting as necessary to maintain quality and consistency.
  5. Conduct quality checks on blended products, including sensory evaluation and laboratory testing.
  6. Document all blending activities, including batch records, production logs, and quality assurance reports.
  7. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the blending area, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety protocols.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and packaging, to meet production schedules and client deadlines.
  9. Troubleshoot blending equipment issues and perform routine maintenance as needed.
  10. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance blending processes, efficiency, and product quality.
  11. Work in other production areas (on the line, sanitizing, packaging) when the blending department is slow.

Competencies:

  1. 1-3 years of experience as a blend technician, mixer operator, or similar role in a manufacturing or co-packing environment.
  2. Strong understanding of blending principles, including ingredient ratios, mixing techniques, and quality control measures.
  3. Familiarity with blending equipment and machinery, such as ribbon blenders, paddle mixers, and scales.
  4. Ability to follow detailed instructions, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with a focus on maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the workplace.
  6. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  7. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibility:

There are no supervisory responsibilities within this role.

Work Environment:

This position takes place 100% of the time within a production facility. Regularly exposed to noise from machinery and to different nutraceutical powders and ingredients.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Some overtime required as business needs dictate.

No travel is required for this position.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years' experience as a blend technician, mixer operator, or similar role in a manufacturing or co-packing environment.
