The Observation Unit at IFMC is an APP driven unit under close supervision of the Observation Unit Medical Directors. The Observation Unit APP will work together with their fellow Observation Unit APPs in rounding on, admitting, and discharging Observation Unit patients. The importance of timely evaluation is critical to the success of this unit given its unique patient population and importance in maintaining throughput for the hospital.

Job Responsibilities
The APPs will cover both observation and inpatient status patients on the Medical Observation Unit
The APPs will perform frequent rounding and frequent documentation
The APPs will communicate with the attending physician if there is a change in patient status
The APPs will enter timely discharges including use of conditional discharge orders to facilitate throughput
The APPs are responsible for completion of a history and physical note, admission orders, and to call the attending physician to discuss the patient and plan of care
