Job Description

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is looking to fill a part time Adult Librarian position at the Rust Library in Leesburg. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, service-minded, community-oriented, and a collaborative life-long learner who embraces the public library's primary role of promoting the joy of reading and learning in the society. As a member of an enthusiastic team, Librarians provide direct customer service in reference, reader's advisory, programming and circulation functions, as well as assist customers in the use of library resources and technologies. Librarians plan and lead programs for children, teen and adult audiences and conduct outreach and create partnerships with schools and other community organizations.
Successful candidates will be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. Librarians serve a variety of roles within LCPL and there are opportunities to work as an Adult, Children's or Teen Librarian. All staff work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.
LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week including Friday and Saturday evenings. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.
HIRING RANGE: $27.62 -$46.96
Salary Commensurate with Experience
Job Requirements
Requires completion of a master's degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited school and six (6) months of related library experience and experience in supervision.
Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.
Special Requirements
Requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Some bending, reaching, walking and standing required. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required. Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred. Passport Acceptance Agent certification and Notary Public License may be required within one year of hire date.
