Job Description

We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Senior Center Cafe Supervisor. Under the general direction of the Senior Center Manager, supervises the delivery of meals for Dulles South Senior Center.

This position assesses the needs of seniors; orders food and snacks; manages food handling activities; collects program fees; oversees assigned staff and volunteers in serving and delivering meals; and plans and participates in special events. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills, the ability to work with a diverse group of volunteers and members, the ability to manage one's time and organize time effectively, the ability to exercise good judgment, skills in creative problem solving, and the ability to be proactive and self-directed. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location:

  • Dulles South Senior Center, South Riding, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitors and assists with Senior Center programs and events.
  • Manages compliance with food handling standards.
  • Orders, serves, and monitors client meals in compliance with regulations and Center policies and maintains kitchen, equipment, and supplies in a safe and sanitary condition.
  • Oversees the volunteers who assist with the cafe meal program and delivery of home-delivered meals.
  • Operates passenger vehicle.
  • Completes required paperwork related to the meal program.
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Work hours Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with 1-2 Saturday shifts a month from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and Two (2) years of related work experience planning programs for senior adults or other special needs population (prefer one-year program experience including supervisory experience in some capacity); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to independently exercise judgments in solving problems relating to potentially disruptive behavior and vehicle or client emergencies.
  • Ability to develop and maintain confidential records and reports relating to clients and special incidents.
  • Ability to develop and provide service records in compliance with Federal, State, and local requirements.
  • Ability to use automated systems to transmit client and service information.
  • Knowledge of the physical, social, emotional, and wellness needs of the elderly.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Pass pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV background checks.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL with Passenger endorsement) within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful candidate holding CDL must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
