As a R&D Lead Machinist, you will be responsible for: • Manage the machine shop, plans, and propose any need for machine, tools, software, and measurement equipment. • Organize machine shop and maintain its equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instruction; troubleshooting malfunctions and coordinating for any repairs. • Plan machining activities for R&D using 2D/3D data, engineering plans, specifications and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). • Review part designs (models and drawings) and provide design for manufacturability feedback. • Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock. • In collaboration with R&D engineers, maintain and establish safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Required skills to have for the success of this role • 10+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, preferably in an R&D environment with experience collaborating directly with engineers and implementing on-the-fly modifications and/or re-works. • Associate degree in a relevant field, BS degree in relevant field is highly desired. • Able to read and follow technical drawings, including GD&T • Proficient in machine set up, programming, and operating CNC machining centers (e.g., mill and lathe).
