Job Description

The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is currently seeking talented candidates who are looking to work in a diverse, exciting, and fast paced work environment and have a desire to help Loudoun County residents gain self-sufficiency.

The ideal candidate will work independently to oversee the VIEW and TANF Team. Programs include Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Virginia Initiative for Education and Work (VIEW), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Medicaid. This position is responsible for oversight of the services offered to customers who participate in the TANF and VIEW Programs. The TANF program provides cash assistance to families with minor children who are referred to the VIEW Program, which provides employment, education, and training opportunities to assist individuals in attaining the goal of self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities include direct, daily oversight of a team of TANF and VIEW Specialists to include ensuring staff meet policy and procedures as well as timeliness and accuracy standards. This position is responsible for evaluation and reporting of performance data related to employment services. Responsibilities include management of community contracts and reviewing/authorizing payments for supportive services within program guidelines.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Have extensive knowledge of complex federal, state, and local VIEW, TANF, SNAP and Medicaid policies.
  • Have exceptional supervisor skills and the ability to communicate complex policies to customers and staff.
  • Knowledge of research principles including analysis, interpretation, and use of statistics.
  • Can prepare reports and maintain records.
  • Ability to collaborate with other units and divisions within the department to ensure service delivery.
  • Establish relationships with community partners to promote and support the TANF and VIEW Program.
  • Have grant/contract management experience.
  • Have effective oral and written communication skills.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, Health, or related field and three (3) years of related work experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

preferred:

  • Case management experience working with TANF and VIEW recipients preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Special Requirements

  • This position will be located at our Leesburg office and may be assigned and required to work at an alternate work site(s) to perform duties that support the needs of the County.
  • In addition, you must be available for duty beyond the normal workday (8:30am - 5:00pm), which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, as required to perform functions of the position for the assigned department.
  • The successful candidate may be required to perform work that involves crisis situations and is required to make decisions involving people, resources, and property.
  • This position has limited telework opportunity after 90 days with successful evaluation of performance.
