Job Description
Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional leader for its Child Protective Services (CPS) Supervisor positions.
The successful candidate will join the Department of Family Services which envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all and supports individuals and families in the community to live their best lives while advocating for those most vulnerable and respecting their right to self-determination. This critical supervisory position directs and supports the work of the Senior Family Services Specialist and Family Services Specialists. The Specialists investigate or assess allegations of child abuse or neglect, document them within mandated timeframes, and identify and refer families to appropriate services to prevent the recurrence of abuse or neglect. Under the direction of a Program Manager serving with a peer supervisory team, this position provides leadership and oversight of the Child Protective Services program.
This work is multifaceted, as outlined in its core responsibilities:
Supervising Senior Family Services Specialist and Family Services Specialist staff that investigates and assesses child abuse or neglect complaints during regular business hours, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, on a scheduled rotation, or as assigned using strengths-based and trauma-informed perspectives.
Providing crisis intervention to ensure an appropriate and timely response 24 hours/7 days per week to emergency, high-risk and life-threatening situations involving children and youth.
Assuring adherence to all local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations for investigations, assessments, and record keeping.
Reviewing documentation and electronic records for accuracy, adherence to all policies and procedures, clarity, and completeness.
Collaborating with agency partners to identify and address service gaps.
Developing community resources and services.
Managing contracts for community services.
Approving and monitoring the budget for purchased client services.
Conducting informal staff quarterly reviews and performance appraisals annually; addressing performance issues promptly.
Recruiting, hiring, and training new staff.
Addressing client/customer/consumer complaints and concerns promptly.
Analyzing and evaluating program success.
Providing community and programmatic crisis intervention and emergency responses as directed.
Completing special projects as assigned.
We are seeking candidates with:
General knowledge of the human services system with specialized knowledge and experience in at least one (1) program area related to CPS.
Leadership experience in a team environment.
Knowledge regarding a family services system of care philosophy and values.

Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals in diverse roles, such as families, colleagues, agencies, vendors, consultants and state and local government officials.

Currently licensed or license-eligible (transferable) in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an LCSW or LPC.

Under the general direction of the Nutrition Program Manager, provides nutrition services as a Registered Dietician and the Breastfeeding Coordinator for the County's Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Supplemental Food Program. This position analyzes diets of program participants; calculates the nutritional adequacy of meals based on Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA), determines client nutritional needs according to lifecycle stage of client, tailors food packages, evaluates medical/nutritional history and interprets lab results, and provides educational training on nutrition to the community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provides nutritional services to clients who are eligible for the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program.
Documents care plans according to federal and state regulations and Department policies and procedures.
Provides nutrition and breastfeeding education for WIC participants, staff, and community groups.
Processes special formula and concentrated formula requests, nutritional & special formula needed for tube feeding.
Provides follow-up and coordination of nutritional care with Health care providers.
Oversees Breastfeeding Peer Counselors, oversees breast pump loaners and serves as breastfeeding subject matter expert.
Maintains inventory of breastfeeding supplies. Orders breastfeeding supplies and education materials as needed.
Conducts community education and outreach; raises public awareness of program and available benefits; identifies methods and venues to share information about programs and activities.

Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field and satisfactory completion of a program of supervised clinical experience approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; or related qualification requirements as defined by the Code of Virginia Chapter 27.1 of Title 54.1 Dietitians and Nutritionist; One (1) year of relevant experience.

Youth Services Specialists are responsible for the welfare, safety, and security of the youth at the facility.

Supervise youth in all daily activities, such as: recreational, educational, hygiene, meals, visitation, life skills and spiritual services.
Manage youths' behavior by the least restrictive means, utilizing coaching and conflict resolution skills to teach and promote pro-social behavior among the youth.
Counsel, discipline and physically restrain youth as needed.
Transport youth.
Complete reports and daily logs.
Conduct inspections, security checks and searches.
Work schedule requires evening, overnight, weekend, and some day hours. Preference to overnight hours.
HIRING RATE: $23.96 per hour.
Job Requirements
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field.
Valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Special Requirements
Must be able to successfully complete First Aid, CPR for adults and Handle with Care (physical intervention) within 30 days of hire. Must update certifications as needed.
Position is classified as Essential Personnel and successful candidates shall be able to fulfill this requirement including working holidays and during inclement weather, as scheduled or as required by Director.
Must have the ability to use automated technology and be able to operate keyboard driven equipment.
May be at risk of exposure to various forms of communicable disease.
Requires occasional stooping, bending, and /or light lifting.
