Job Description SummaryThe Residence Director is a full-time, 3 year limited term live-in professional staff member who is responsible for the overall administration of one to four residence halls. The Residence Director supervises a staff of undergraduate and graduate Resident Assistants and creates a healthy living/learning environment through creative programming, counseling, facility management, staff supervision, policy implementation, and administrative duties.Essential Duties Supervise a staff of 9-22 Resident Assistants in designated buildings Participate in the Resident Assistant Selection Process; Train and evaluate Resident Assistants Plan and conduct weekly resident hall staff meetings; Meet with each staff member individually on a bi-weekly basis Manage Residence Hall budget and administer staff programming funding. Student Development: Administer Resident Assistant programming Advise Residence Hall Councils Act as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the Bentley conduct system Mediate roommate inflicts Serve as an on-call administrator for crisis and emergency situations during non-business and weekend hours Provide academic and personal counseling to students and make referrals when appropriate Operations: Oversee the operational management of the building(s) Facilitate the opening and closing of the residence halls Conduct regular health and safety inspections Coordinate follow-up procedure for all maintenance and housekeeping concerns/requests Work with the Assistant Director of Housing to insure proper occupancy records and reports. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field required (graduate residence life experience preferred) or a Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years professional residence life experience. Demonstrated commitment and understanding of student development theory. Effective communication skills, including cross-cultural communication skills, as well as experience or interest in working and programming with diverse populations. Experience working will specialized populations preferred. Work Environment Shares administrator on-duty functions with seven others during the academic year. The RD must live in assigned housing. Frequent and significant evening, late night, and weekend hours are required. May need to go to the scene of student issues wherever they take place on campus. Climbing stairs and walking down hallways in Residence Halls will likely be required to accomplish. Two boys, 5 and 7.5 yo. We have a small dog, and will be bringing home a puppy in Sept. For August, we need help from the 1-26th, roughly 30 hours per week (daily start time will vary, 9 is typical). In September we need help 3-5:30/6 daily (2 PM on Wednesdays)- walk to pick up boys (15min walk), let dogs out, snack and play time/driving to activity/play dates. If you are open to housekeeping (laundry, vacuuming, organizing), more hours available. Our boys love projects, baking, all sports, and we spend a lot of time outside - sun or snow. We are looking for someone who can potentially work closer to 30 hours next summer as well, but not required (would like someone who could travel outside country for a week or two in the summer). We are looking for someone enthusiastic about child care, we aren’t looking just for someone to take kids to activities. Must swim, we have a pool club membership. Previous experience necessary. Occasional evenings and weekends also available.

This Job Is Ideal for Someone Who Is/Has: Dependable -- More reliable than spontaneous Adaptable/Flexible -- Enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction Autonomous/Independent -- Enjoys working with little direction Proven experience as a college counselor and/or teacher Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school's policies and procedures Experience with the Common Application process and thorough knowledge of the Higher Education system Excellent writing and interpersonal skills Well-organized and committed Creative and energetic Strong moral values and discipline College Bootcamp will run Monday-Friday from 2-5 PM.
