Job DescriptionPosition Overview:Wellan Montessori School is seeking an enthusiastic educator to support our preschool and Kindergarten programs (ages 3 - 6 years). This position is full time beginning immediately. The Teacher Aide provides individualized student support while working closely with co-teachers to ensure that classroom standards are met consistently. The Teacher Aide must excel at taking shared responsibility for creating and maintaining an orderly, safe, and appropriately challenging learning environment for children. Additional responsibilities may include: facilitating student lessons and activities, communicating with families, and implementing strict health and safety protocols.Successful candidates will be patient, well organized, flexible, professional, and dependable; have strong verbal and written communication skills; be able to function in a cooperative teaching environment; and be able to collaborate with other educators in our community to create an environment where children learn, socialize, explore, and grow together. The Student Support Coordinator will work both at our high school campus on 1001 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton and our middle school campus on 215 Forest Hills St. in Jamaica Plain. This position reports directly to the Network Special Education Coordinator.RESPONSIBILITIESSpecial Education Team Support Supervise aides and/or related service providers Facilitate 504 and IEP Team meetings Provide technical support for special education staff on the IEP database (ESPED). Support and teach staff how to write 504s, IEPs, progress reports, etc.Compliance Ensure the file system is current and in compliance with state and federal regulations.   • Full Time 40 hours per week, with attendance at staff meetings and occasional night / weekend events outside of regular hours required.
  • Regular Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience required.
  • Experience working with young children required.
  • Experience working in a Montessori environment preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Letter of interest/cover letter, resume, and at least two references are required to be considered for this position.
