Description The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will work as a member of multi-disciplined government contractor team with a focus on research and development of characterization methodologies of aboveground and underground structures.  Work will be performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment inside a government facility.Role & Responsibility:Use exploitation products, intelligence resources and engineering expertise to produce intelligence to characterize selected facilities.Provide engineering guidance and judgment throughout the characterization process to produce accurate intelligence estimates of standard facility operations (power, HVAC, security, etc.) and equipment.Model different aspects of a facility to include mechanical, electrical, and structural components within industry software packages (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, UTAS, etc.).Provide mechanical engineering expertise to assist with recommendations of protective HVAC designs for facilities of interest.Provide briefings on R&D findings to both fellow team members and government customers.Support field surveys in a variety of locations/environments to collect ground truth as part of the R&D verification and validation process.Requirements & Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering discipline with 12+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree in engineering discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience.Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and life safety systems associated with critical environments.Ability to evaluate, organize and utilize large datasets from various sources to include ground truth field collections, industry equipment manuals and existing facility models.Ability to make decisions based on incomplete information and communicate any gaps in information along with paths forward.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully brief and interact with personnel at all levels of experience.Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI, or a Top Secret clearance with a current SSBI/SCI eligibility, and be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Poly level clearance.US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the government contracts we support.Preferred Qualifications:Construction or Facility Management, hard target construction/facility support.Tunnel construction or mining (includes HVAC and power support)5+ years of process controls experience Allen Bradley, FactoryTalkView, GE Fanuc, Modicon, Schneider Electric, Siemens, DeltaV, Wonderware, Emerson, etc.Experience with one or more modeling programs such as Revit MEP, SketchUP. Solidworks, VentSIM, UTAS, etcMilitary or defense-related experience and an understanding of operational planning.  Knowledge of the Joint Targeting Cycle, Facility Target Development, Facility Vulnerability Analysis, weapons effects, Military Operational Planning or defense industry production process is a strong plus.Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), Industrial HVAC, Central Plant Utilities, Industrial Processes, Water/Wastewater, Nuclear Power, Data Centers, Cogen Plants, Combined Cooling, Heating & Power, Cooling towers, chillers, UPS, Power Monitoring.Cybersecurity experience – Monitoring advanced threats and managing security services.Modeling and Simulation support. Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality experience creation a strong plus.Production (Manufacturing, Fabrication or Assembly) or warehouse design, workflow development or management.Experience collecting, processing, and analyzing LIDAR data specifically from terrestrial (ground based) scanning systems.Software development skills preferred – python, java, etc.Pay Range:Pay Range $118,300.00 - $213,850.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
