Job Summary: Under the direction of the Office Manager, the Sexton conducts routine cleaning and tidying of the building and sanctuary, minor maintenance tasks such as changing lightbulbs, and specific deep cleaning projects such as washing windows. The Sexton also operates the building systems including HVAC and audio equipment, removes trash, ensures that supplies are kept in stock, assists volunteers and staff at special events, and ensures safe access to the building on weekdays by clearing snow and ice from access walkways (Arlington First Parish has a snow removal service). In the summer months, when the workload is lower, the Sexton may mow the lawn and conduct other yard work. All work to be conducted using sound environmental practices.
